Gilmorton Garage provides two levels of vehicle servicing;
- Interim Service
- Oil service - referred to as 'interim visit'
This includes;
- Oil and filter change using top quality oil of correct type and viscosity and a filter to meet or exceed O.E quality.
- Screen wash top up FOC.
- Visual brake and under body inspection.
- Tyre condition checked and inflated as necessary.
- Lights checked.
- Full / Major Service
Full Service – referred to as Major service or yearly visit.
This is carried out to closely follow manufacturers recommendations, but also includes some checks that we feel are important.
This includes;
- Oil and filter change using top quality oil of correct type and viscosity and a filter to meet or exceed O.E quality.
- Screen wash concentrate.
- Visual brake and under body inspection.
- Tyre condition checked and inflated as necessary.
- Spark plugs (petrol engines).
- Fuel filter.
- Air filter element.
- Pollen filter – sometimes called Cabin filter
- Windscreen wipers checked and replaced as necessary (at extra cost).
- All lights checked and bulbs replaced as necessary (at extra cost).
- Handbrake travel adjusted ad efficiency checked.
- On particular vehicles, we remove the rear brake drum, the damaged wear edge removed and the shoes de glazed, de dusted and reassembled and adjusted to give correct braking efficiency.
- Spare tyre condition checked/inflated.
- Front brakes condition and operation checked.
- Horn operation checked.
- Interior lights, switches and gauges checked for operation.
- General vehicle condition assessed and any issues reported.
- Brake pipes checked.
- Engine coolant protection level checked and adjusted if necessary.
- Brake fluid water content checked.
- All door hinges, locks and moving parts are lubricated with white grease.
Finally all wheel nuts are tightened to the correct torque and the vehicle is ran up to working temperature and a short road test completed.
